Muse, Actually*

Muse, Actually*

I move to new countries, ask uncomfortable questions, change my mind, and write about what happens.

I  ·  The notebook

I've always believed life is meant to be experienced, not just observed.

So I say yes to things that scare me.
I move to new countries.
Start over.
Fall in love.
Make art I've never made before.
Ask uncomfortable questions.
Change my mind.
Then I write about what happens.

Muse, Actually is my notebook. A place for stories, observations, paintings, travel, psychology, and the beautiful contradictions of trying to build a life that feels like your own.

If you've ever felt like there's more to life than simply getting through it...

Welcome.

II  ·  What you'll find

Every edition is different.

One week we're in Madrid, sitting in a café that quietly changes the course of my life. The next we're talking about attraction, identity, or why certain conversations stay with us for years.

Some editions begin with a painting. Some with a photograph. Some with a question. Others with a mistake.

The common thread is curiosity.

III  ·  This is for you if

You believe ordinary moments deserve to be remembered.

You collect stories more than souvenirs.

You find yourself thinking about conversations days after they've ended.

You love beautiful places, beautiful ideas, and people who make you think.

You don't mind changing your mind.

You believe becoming is a lifelong practice.

IV  ·  Why "Muse, Actually"

I think we've misunderstood what it means to be a muse.

It has never been about being looked at.

It's about living a life so fully, so curiously, and so honestly that it inspires something in other people.

I'm still figuring out what that looks like.
Maybe we can figure it out together.

V  ·  What it might do

If it works, it should make you want to

book the trip.
read the book.
start the painting.
ask the difficult question.
stay a little longer after dinner.
look up from your phone.
pay closer attention.

Come and read.

Tuesday in Madrid

Each month, I share a painting and the story behind it. Not to explain the work, but to preserve the feeling that inspired it. This month begins with Tuesday in Madrid
